Our story

We rebuilt the practice around the trips we live for.

Cannon Expeditions opened in 2015 as a generalist practice — cruises, honeymoons, Ireland self-drives. Good trips, well planned. But every January, the trips we booked for ourselves looked nothing like the trips we sold: liveaboard berths, bike bags, trekking permits. Eventually we admitted what the calendar already knew, and put adventure at the center of the practice — without giving up the rest of it.

The heart of the practice is now the epic kind of trip: custom scuba, mountain-bike, wilderness, and expedition travel, designed from a blank page. Around it, the full advisory still stands — cruises, luxury resorts, honeymoons, celebrations — booked through Virtuoso with the upgrades, credits, and early check-ins that make an advisor pay for themselves.

The method didn't change, only the subject. We still ask better questions than a booking site knows to ask — but now they're questions like: how many dives are in your logbook, and in what water? How many hours a week are you actually on the bike? Have you slept above 3,500 meters? The answers matter more than the destination, because a trip one level too hard is miserable and a trip one level too easy is forgettable.

We're a three-person shop, deliberately. Three advisors covering four lanes — dive, ride, trek, and expeditions — and one advisor per client, first call to touchdown. The client list grows mostly by referral, mostly from people whose friends thought the trip was crazy.

In adventure travel, the operator is the safety system. We book the boat with the better crew, and we'll show you why it's worth it.

Training is part of the trip.

The three months of riding before the Chilcotins are the trip too. Your pre-departure pack includes fitness notes for exactly this reason.

One objective done properly beats three sampled. Depth of experience is the whole point of going far.
